All documentation should be in order before you finalize plans for your trip, as it can take several days to obtain a passport and several weeks to obtain a visa.
If you already have a passport, make sure it is up to date. If your passport isn’t current, you will have to renew it. Remember, the passport can’t expire while you are out of the country, or you will have problems. Those tourists traveling with a minor child, will need a birth certificate or other ID for the airline. Additional documentation may be required, so check with the airline and the embassy of the foreign country on documentation required for minors.

Due to security measures at the airport, the amount of gel or liquid products you can carry onboard the plane have been drastically reduced. The wisest course is to pack beauty aids, shampoo and other restricted items in your checked luggage, or simply buy the items when you reach your destination. If found in your carry on, the items will be confiscated.
What the travel tourist may have difficulty getting a hold of are prescription medications, prescription contact lenses or eye glasses and chargers for cell phones and cameras. It may be difficult, not to mention expensive, to get a foreign doctor to issue a travel tourist a prescription for chronic illnesses that you nay have without a thorough examination. Contact lenses can be bought at local stores but the cost may differ from the home country while prescription glasses may be redundant. Chargers for electronic devices are necessities for the travel tourist especially for cell phones in which contact information is stored.
